As we all know, Leeds is a bustling modern city full of live events that provide entertainment for almost every taste. Right in the heart of the city, Millennium Square is often the focal point for the biggest and best of these events, and this summer is no different. This week we’re going to give you a rundown of the best Millennium Square has to offer this summer.

The Cribs – Friday 22^nd July

Since 2002 local band, The Cribs, have been delivering raucous guitar-driven indie rock with an energy and verve rarely seen before. This one-off show is a celebration of their local roots while giving the band an opportunity to pay tribute to a hero – Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore. With further support from local bands, Pulled Apart by Horses and Menace Beach, this is a great value event for indie rock fans. Tickets on sale now.

Ocean Colour Scene – 24^th-25^th July

20 years (yes, twenty years!) ago Ocean Colour Scene released their seminal Moseley Shoals album to public and critical acclaim. As one of the leading lights of the Britpop scene, the band were genuine challengers to Oasis and Blur during the mid to late 90s with singles like The Riverboat Song. Now they’re playing two nights in Millennium Square in Leeds to celebrate Moseley Shoals, but you’ll have to book soon because the first night is already sold out!

The Magic of Motown Under the Stars – 5^th August

This musical Motown extravaganza is in its 10^th year and celebrates this by bringing a show to wow all lovers of music to Millennium Square. Featuring special guests, Che Chesterman from X-Factor and Clem Curtis of The Foundations amongst a star-studded cast, you’ll barely be able to take a breath as the cast sing 40 hits back-to-back! So, for glitz, glamour and great music this is the night for you!

Leeds Pride – 7^th August

Another show celebrating its 10^th anniversary in August is Leeds Pride. This free event is a spectacular opportunity for the LGBT community of Leeds and the North to come together with the wider public in a show of solidarity.  Featuring the famous parade as well as stalls and stages, Leeds Pride seems to grow year on year. This year music from acts as diverse as Ray Quinn (remember him?) and Britain’s Got Talent’s Lorraine Bowen will be on offer.
