Our favourite Chinese restaurants in Leeds

Noodles in Chinese restaurant

Eating out is one of the most popular leisure activities in the UK with the average Brit spending £4,000 a year doing so! This week we’re going to share with you a selection of Leeds finest restaurants serving food from the country that started this revolution – China! Chinese food may not be as cool as some of the more exotic offerings but it’s still amongst the most popular, and these great restaurants show us why.

Red Chilli – 6 Great George St, City Centre, Leeds LS1 3DW

Located in a beautiful building on Great George Street, Red Chilli serves delightful contemporary and traditional Chinese food cooked by chefs with five star hotel and Chinese embassy experience. Specialising in dishes from Beijing and Sichuan, Red Chilli will have your taste buds doing a merry little dance as you eat. But that’s not all: the atmosphere and 1920s Shanghai decor is wonderful and the prices very reasonable.

Ho’s – 115 Vicar Ln, City Centre, Leeds LS1 6PJ

It’s always a good sign when the majority of the clientele at a Chinese restaurant are Chinese, and Ho’s backs that hunch up by serving what may be the best Chinese food in Leeds. It’s an unassuming little place, but don’t let that fool you. Ho’s menu is extensive and everything on it is delicious – we especially recommend the dim sum – and the staff are always friendly.

Crown Buffet – Gower Street, Leeds LS2 7PX

If good, honest food and plenty of it is more your thing then Crown Buffet is the place for you. But this restaurant is more than a tacky ‘All you can eat’ greedfest; the a la carte menu is full of delicious, freshly cooked food at a great price. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the food is of a consistently high standard.

Maxi’s Restaurant – 6 Bingley Street, Leeds, LS3 1LX

Just on the edge of town you’ll find Maxi’s, a wonderfully traditional Chinese restaurant that serves the best Cantonese food in Leeds.  Able to cater for very large parties without skipping a beat, Maxi’s is one of our favourites for the quality of their dim sum menu. Excellent!
