Good old fish & chips!

We all love a slap-up meal in a fancy restaurant, but sometimes only fish and chips will do. Our national dish may be the butt of culinary jokes around the world, but anyone who’s tasted top-quality fish and chips soon becomes a convert. So to celebrate our love for this humble treasure we’re going to share with you our favourite fish and chip shops in Leeds. Every one of these is tried and tested by the team at Trafalgar Street car park!

Crown Fisheries – 14 Call Lane, Leeds, LS1 6DN

First up is Crown Fisheries in Call Lane, where the service really does come with a smile. Definitely the friendliest chippy in Leeds, but that means nothing if the food doesn’t back it up. Fortunately, the team at Crown Fisheries always come up trumps with consistently delicious food, decent portions and exceptional value. What’s not to like?

The Fisherman’s Wife – 12-14 George Street, Leeds, LS2 7HY

Possibly the best fish restaurant in Leeds right now, The Fisherman’s Wife has been serving perfectly fried fish and chips to their discerning clientele for over 50 years. Ethically and sustainably sourced fish and locally sourced potatoes, along with a choice of three different curry sauces are just a few of the highlights from the menu.

Nash’s – 17 Merrion Street, Leeds, LS2 8JE

When Grandma Nash opened her first chip shop in Leeds back in 1920, it’s unlikely that she would have expected her name to be above the door of one of the best fish restaurants in the city nearly 100 years later. Step through the door of the takeaway and head upstairs to the grand restaurant and you’ll find a sumptuous place to sit down and eat some of the best fish and chips you’ll ever taste. Sustainably-sourced, super fresh and perfectly fried, the fish and chips at Nash’s will leave you bursting at the seams, but dying for more!

This short but sweet list is the cream of the crop when it comes to fish and chips in Leeds city centre, but don’t take our word for it. Get down to Leeds with an empty stomach and a tenner in your pocket so you can experience one of these great eat-in or takeaway fish restaurants yourself. Why not make a day of it and leave your car with us at Trafalgar Street car park – the best value car park in Leeds.
