What’s on in Leeds Christmas 2017

A Leeds Christmas is always a great Christmas, and this year is no exception. The city is a fantastic place to find festive activities for the whole family, so let’s take a look at what’s on offer over the holiday period.

Leeds Christkindlemarkt

Millennium Square once again plays host to a much-loved feature of the Leeds Christmas festivities – the German Market. The universally loved market offers Leeds residents and visitors the opportunity to try some classic German food, buy traditional handmade toys and gifts, and enjoy a spin on the beautiful fairground rides.

Christmas is Cancelled! – The Royal Armouries Leeds – 27th-30th December

When The Royal Armouries put on a show you can be sure that you’re going to be in for a spectacular event, and Christmas is Cancelled! is no exception. Set in the 1640s during the ill-fated reign of Charles I, the English Civil War is raging and Christmas has been cancelled, but this hasn’t stopped a hearty few who are determined to enjoy it anyway.

Aladdin – City Varieties Music Hall – 24th Nov-7th Jan

City Varieties bring us another action and music packed panto – but it’s not for the faint-hearted! Combining the usual slapstick and cheesy jokes you’d expect from a pantomime, with rock, pop and soul hits from the ages, makes this a show for the whole family.

It’s a performance for everyone, but be warned that it’s a loud show full of spectacular fireworks, so bear that in mind if you’re taking your little ones along – you might want to provide some ear defenders for them… and you too!

The Snowman and Cinderella – Leeds Town Hall – 17th December

Is Christmas really Christmas without the sound of Raymond Briggs’ Snowman ringing out? Imagine how magical it would be to see this classic animation on the big screen while a live orchestra played the score! Well, that’s what the Orchestra of Opera North is bringing to Victoria Hall this December, and we can’t wait.

Narrator John Savournin will warm you up with a delightful version of the classic Cinderella story, as composed by Sergei Prokofiev, first – a performance guaranteed to put you in the Christmas mood!

The festive period is a perfect opportunity to bundle the whole family in the car and head into Leeds for a day or night out, so pick up tickets for one of these fantastic shows and start the holiday season with a bang. You can drop your car with us down at Trafalgar Street where we’ll protect it from any encroaching reindeer and snowmen while you have fun!
