Sunday Sunday… A day to relax, unwind, spend time with the family – and of course, feast on a tasty, traditional Sunday roast! But as we’re sure you’ll agree, it tastes even better if someone else has made it and you don’t have to worry about the washing up!
So continuing on our recent food-focused theme, we thought we’d share our favourite places to enjoy a Sunday roast in Leeds city centre. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it!

The Reliance – just a stone’s throw away from Trafalgar Street car park, this had to be top of our list! But it’s not just biased opinion that earns the Reliance its place here, but its city-wide reputation for roasts done right, with delicious side-dishes and real ale to boot!
Whitelocks – reportedly the oldest pub in Leeds and one chock full of charm, this hidden gem serves fabulous roasts, including a vegetarian option. It’s well known for great food all round, even earning high praise from famous food critic Jay Rayner.
Distrikt – better known for its tapas and cocktails, many people are unaware of Distrikt’s great approach to the Sunday roast. For ethical eaters, the chef’s commitment to locally sourced products is an added bonus, and with the menu reflecting the seasons, you can revisit time and again to sample the latest Sunday offerings.
Crowd of Favours – lovely atmosphere, great choice of beer and Sunday roasts so meaty that even the most committed carnivore will leave satisfied. Another venue that adapts its menu to suit seasonal availability and offering a vegetarian alternative to the traditional meat and potatoes, it’s definitely worth sticking on your roast hit list!
The Botanist – conveniently situated in the popular Trinity shopping centre, The Botanist serves a delightful roast, even offering a kids’ sized portion if you’re out and about with the family. For adults, wash your roast down with one of their fabulous cocktails – their self-named one is our firm favourite!
So that’s our top 5 Sunday roasts in Leeds, all within walking distance of our cut price car park! Once you’ve tried all of them, you can add a few extras onto the list, such as The Adelphi, Cattle Grid, the Town Hall Tavern and the Lounge Bar and Grill – that should keep you busy for a few more weekends!
