Visit Santa’s Grotto Leeds 2014

The Christmas countdown has started and there’s a buzz of excitement in the air – and if you want to see your kids smile, here’s some information on the best santa’s grotto Leeds can offer this year…

From 23rd November until Christmas Eve, Santa will be meeting and greeting in his grotto down at the Merrion Centre. The convenience of the city centre location and the success of previous years will make it a popular event over the festive period, so make sure you plan well. Next time you’re in the vicinity, pick up one if their letter templates; get the kids to fill them in and drop them back at the special Santa postbox for a personal reply. Entry to the grotto is free but there’s a fee if you want your little one to receive a present and have a photo taken with Mr Claus.

It’s not just a Santa’s grotto Leeds has in store either – the same venue also offers the chance to meet Santa’s reindeer on the 29th of November and the 6th, 14th and 21st of December between midday and 4pm. Bring the whole family and show your appreciation for all of Rudolph’s hard work – you’re even allowed to get hands-on and give them a little stroke!

While the Merrion Centre has its own parking, it’s not the largest car park in Leeds and due to its location it can get full very quickly at this time of year. You may want to consider an alternative, such as Trafalgar Street Car Park just on the edge of the city centre – not only is it a fair bit cheaper but it will save you the stress of trying to find a parking space or navigate around the busy roads too.

Other places to meet Santa in Leeds

Another great Santa’s grotto can be found at the Leeds Corn Exchange, every day from the 10th to the 24th of December, with visits costing £6 per child including a present. For £8 or £6 respectively, you can also have breakfast or hot chocolate with the jolly bearded chap or Elsa from popular kids’ movie Frozen.

Finally, if you head out of town you can pay visit to another Santa’s grotto in Leeds, at the Abbey House Museum in Kirkstall for £4 per child (with gift). Running from the 6th to the 24th of December, it’s a great setting but if you’re not from the local area, you may prefer to park in town and take a bus ride instead. By parking at Trafalgar Street car park you can stroll into town for a spot of Christmas shopping or a nice lunch first, then hop on a 33, 33a or 757 bus for a relaxing journey to see Father Christmas.
