Enjoy some food and drink in Leeds this summer!

Every summer Leeds plays host to a multitude of events for all the family, and 2016 is no different. This week we’re going to highlight the wonderful offerings for food and drink lovers in the city, but don’t blame us if you need to loosen your belt!

Raise your Beer Glasses at M&S Company Archives – 16th June, Michael Marks Building, Leeds, LS2 9LJ

Marks & Spencer’s have been selling beer since the early 70s and have always championed real ales from around the country. On 16th June their company beer expert and product developer, Jenny Rea, will be presenting an evening of beer tasting and fascinating information on the current range of craft beers on offer in stores. This is a free event for over 18s, but demand for tickets is expected to be huge so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival – 18th June, Leeds Town Hall, LS1 3AD

Last year the inaugural Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival attracted over 3500 visitors from around the country. Building on that success this year, the event has grown to include over 150 stalls that will offer everything a committed vegan could ask for from hot and cold food, cruelty-free make-up and cosmetics, clothes and so much more.  There will be live music, cookery demonstrations, children’s activities, and outdoor workshops on topics ranging from ‘Living a vegan lifestyle’ to animal rights. This excellent event is just £3 per person (under 16s free) with all proceeds going to animal welfare charities.

Laithwaite’s Wine Tasting Event – 9th July, The Banking Hall, Aspire Leeds, LS1 2JP

Back by popular demand, this event offers wine lovers an opportunity to taste from a selection of over 30 wines from around the world. Laithwaite’s staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and will make you feel at ease whether you’re an aficionado or absolute beginner to wine-tasting. You’ll be presented with a glass of bubbly as you enter either the afternoon or evening session where you will also get to hear from the wine producers – some of which have wonderful stories to tell about their products.

Tickets are £25 in advance and we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

We hope that you’ve enjoyed our blog on food and drink events in Leeds this summer. If you visit one of these events we’d be happy to look after your car at Trafalgar Street car park – but please be careful and have a designated driver for those events where you might be tempted to consume a little alcohol.
