Dance classes in Leeds

Dancing is a great way to keep fit with a smile on your face, but for many of us throwing our body around in a club can leave us feeling embarrassed – or just plain tired with those late nights! Learning to dance properly in a structured class is becoming more and more popular for all ages due to the increased exposure on reality TV shows. This week we’re going to give you a quick run down of some of the available dance classes in Leeds, so pull on those dancing shoes and get ready!

Something exciting is happening for lovers of culture in Leeds. The up and coming cultural quarter that backs on to The Yorkshire Playhouse is now host to many studios and enterprises for music and the arts. One of the longest established is Yorkshire Dance, where people of all backgrounds and abilities are encouraged to engage in dance. They really do believe dance is for everyone!

Classes at Yorkshire Dance include contemporary dance for both children and adults; Mind the Step, which is an expressive class for adults with learning difficulties; Aerial Hoop, a class for the adventurous amongst you; Ballroom/Latin, where you will learn everything from the Waltz to the Rumba. Oh, and don’t forget Street Dance, Flamenco and Pole Dancing!

Since 2009, founder Katie and her team have been working hard to spread the joy of dance to the people of Leeds. Working with a broad range of companies from the BBC to West End theatre productions, The Dance Studio’s team of professional freelance instructors provide classes for individuals as well as community projects such as St Jemma’s Hospice and the NSPCC.

With classes for everyone from beginners right up to seasoned professionals, The Dance Studio Leeds really does have something for all levels. If you want to learn anything from street dance to tap, contemporary to Cuban salsa, belly dancing to ballet, or jazz to swing there is a class for you here. The teachers are all friendly and approachable and will make you feel very welcome.
