Coffee hotspots in Leeds

coffee steaming in christmas mug

A day out in Leeds is always thirsty work, but the extra hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping means that you might need to take regular breaks to refuel! Like all modern cities, Leeds has a glut of coffee shops from the large chains we all know so well, to some of the finest independent establishments in the North.

This week we’re going to share some of our favourites…

Laynes Espresso – 16 New Station St, LS1 5DL

Located just a hop away from the railway station, Laynes Espresso has a great reputation for serving the best coffee in Leeds. The baristas are warm and friendly, the food is outstanding and the coffee is always fresh and well prepared. Definitely worth a visit.

La Bottega Milanese – Unit A11A, The Light, The Headrow, LS1 8TL

Located right in the heart of the city, La Bottega Milanese is like a slice of pure Italian coffee heaven. A bustling and lively vibe coupled with some of the finest coffee money can buy, served with panache by the excellent baristas. We heartily recommend a slice of their pear and ricotta cheesecake!

Opposite Café – Victoria Quarter, Queen Victoria Street, LS1 6AZ

It’s of little surprise that the coolest coffee shop in Leeds is set in the Victoria Quarter. Opposite Café serves single-origin filter coffees from around the globe in a plush and relaxing environment. The staff are welcoming and friendly, the coffee is fresh and hot, and the cakes are homemade – a perfect combination!

Mrs Atha’s – 18 Central Road, LS1 6DE

Such a classy coffee house as Mrs Atha’s makes stopping for a break during the Christmas shopping madness such a pleasure that you might be tempted to stick around all day! With beautiful old Edwardian furniture to relax in and all of your favourite coffees and cakes to choose from, we know that a pit stop here will give you the boost your flagging feet need.

Casa Columbia – Grand Arcade, 6 Vicar Lane, LS1 6PG

You could be forgiven for forgetting that you’re in Yorkshire when you walk through the door of Casa Columbia. So authentically South American is the vibe and décor that you’ll wonder why you have your winter togs on! The smell that pervades this wonderful place is out of this world because they roast, ground and brew their own Casacol coffee on site. Match it up with something from the traditional Columbian menu and you’ll be literally full of beans for your shopping trip!

We know that you’ll be delighted with any of these great coffee shops while you hunt for bargains this Christmas, so drop your car with us at Trafalgar Street to save the hassle of driving right through the city centre, then take the quick stroll into the main shopping (and coffee) district.
