Christmas Events in Leeds 2018

Christmas events in Leeds 2018

After the fantastic summer we’ve enjoyed in Yorkshire, it’s time to look forward to our pick of the best Christmas events in Leeds – 2018 deserves a festive season to match the rest of the year, after all!

As always, we’ve tried to include something for everyone in our list, so let’s dive straight in and start planning for a Christmas to remember in our favourite city.

Thor’s Tipi Bar – Victoria Gardens, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 3AA

We’re not sure if the Norse god himself approves of Thor’s Tipi Bar, but we certainly do! Building on the current popularity of all things Scandinavian, this beautifully crafted pop-up bar will be serving wholesome BBQ food, hot cider, mulled wine and a selection of wonderful ales throughout the Christmas period. If that’s not enough, you can enjoy the roaring fire and sing songs while raising a glass to the gods in Valhalla!

Leeds Winterfest – Leeds Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD

At the time of writing, dates have yet to be announced, but Leeds Winterfest was so popular last year that it’s set to return with dozens of veggie and vegan stalls selling delicious treats. Last year there were 150 stalls, live food demonstrations, activities for children and inspiring talks on a more ethical lifestyle, so you can expect more of the same this Christmas.

Hibernate! Leeds City Museum – Millennium Square, Leeds, LS2 8BH

In our hunt for family-focused Christmas events in Leeds, 2018 has turned up this little gem at Leeds City Museum. From 22nd December until 6th January 2019, this free kids’ workshop will offer loads of space for hiding away from the winter weather with colouring activities, and the opportunity to follow trails within the museum to find hibernating animals. It’s the perfect antidote to the tinsel and sparkles of a traditional Christmas.

A Christmas Carol – Leeds Playhouse, Playhouse Square, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UP

This popup theatre version of the classic Christmas play will be on all over the festive season at Leeds Playhouse. Adapted by Deborah McAndrew, it’s the perfect introduction to the classics for kids from 7 and up, and promises to be magical, enthralling and a little bit scary!

With so many great Christmas events in Leeds, 2018 promises to be a year to remember, so leave your car at Trafalgar Street car park and head out for a day or night of festive fun with family and friends.
