Some of the best French restaurants in Leeds

Menu for French restaurant

We’ve reviewed our favourite Leeds’ restaurants from most corners of the globe in our blog, but it occurred to us that we’ve omitted the nation that epitomises fine dining – France! This week we’ll rectify that by sharing our favourite French restaurants in Leeds. If you can’t find something to delight your taste buds in this list you might as well stick with McDonalds!

Sous le Nez en Ville – Quebec Street, Leeds, LS1 2HA

Since opening their doors to the public in 1991, Sous le Nez have been consistently treating their clientele to some of the finest bistro dining in the country. This quaint little basement bar and bistro serves fresh local produce with such panache that we’re sure you’ll want to return time and time again. We particularly recommend the Roast Breast of Chicken Stuffed with Blue Cheese & Leeks, Tomato Red Pepper & Chilli Sauce.

Brasserie Blanc – Victoria Mill, Sovereign St, Leeds, LS1 4BJ

When your menu is created by celebrated French chef Raymond Blanc you had better be able to deliver! Fortunately, Brasserie Blanc rarely disappoints. Offering a wonderfully comforting menu of classic French food that concentrates on locally produced and sustainably sourced ingredients is what makes this place special. Well worth a trip.

Burgundy Bar & Bistro – 12 York Place, Leeds, LS1 2RU

Small but perfectly formed, Burgundy was born after a casual conversation during a vacation in the Burgundy region of France. Following through on a holiday hatched dream is rare, so we applaud Sean Raven for doing so – and doing it so well. Focusing on the region’s simple, wholesome and delicious food, and wonderful wines, a meal in Burgundy really is as close to an authentic French country meal as you’ll found in the UK.

Le Chalet — 31-32 Park Row, Leeds LS1 5JD

Our last recommendation for French restaurants in Leeds isn’t exactly a restaurant in the traditional sense, but Le Chalet deserves to be on this list if you’re looking for something a bit different for breakfast or lunch. Featuring a full range of teas from around the world and some of the finest cakes in the city, Le Chalet is well worth popping into for afternoon tea – you won’t be disappointed!

So next time you’re in Leeds and fancy some classic French cuisine try one of these great establishments, but don’t forget to leave your car with us at Trafalgar Street car park, where we’ll take extra special care of it for you from just £4 a day.
