Top Christmas events for kids in Leeds 2019


As we enter November and the colder weather and dark nights start drawing in, thoughts turn to
festivities – so we thought it was about time for our annual collection of Christmas events for kids in
Leeds.

These events and activities are a great way to start building some Christmas excitement, spend some
quality time as a family and keep the little ones occupied for a few hours!

Messy Christmas, Left Bank Leeds, Cardigan Road – Sunday 15 th December

Feeling a bit crafty? This fun three hour event is perfect for kids between 3 and 11 years old, and
includes some brilliant decoration making, biscuit decorating, seasonal storytelling and even a
treasure hunt! The money raised helps to support the charity and you can even pre-order a lunchbox

Christkindlemarkt, Millennium Square – 8 th November to 21 st December

A great night out for the adults if you want to eat, drink and be merry, or a fab way to while away a
little time with the family. This German market has become a popular festive event in Leeds, where
you and the kids can scoff schnitzels, sausages, stollen and a variety of other tasty treats – although
if you’re taking them on the carousel, we advise doing that first!

Hobbycraft, 12 Makes of Christmas – various dates

For crafty kids, Hobbycraft stores around the country are hosting a range of events suitable for
children of 5+ years. With Christmas crafts including wreath and cracker making, fillable baubles and
more, why not check out what they have available in Leeds here and book in with the kids?!

Santa and the Christmas Dragon, Kirkgate Market – 14 th , 21 st – 23 rd December

This free performance is full of interactive fun and a super sprinkling of magic and singalongs – a
great way to put a smile on their faces and dance with the dragon!

The Night Before Christmas, Playhouse – 30 th November – 28 th December

We’ve all heard of Elf on a Shelf, so how about taking the kids to see this brilliantly festive theatre
production, complete with a cute elf to bring your little one’s Christmas favourite to life. After a sell-
out run in 2015, it’s great to see this one back in Leeds. It’s also accompanied by sign language,
making it extra accessible.
