The best independents for Christmas shopping in Leeds

Christmas shopping in Leeds is a real treat because of the excellent balance between department
stores, high street favourites and wonderful independents.

Join us as we take a look at some Leeds’ indie stores that we think offer the best chance of finding
that perfect Christmas gift…

Leeds Corn Exchange – Call Lane, Leeds, LS1 7BR

Your first port of call on the independent’s trail for your Christmas shopping in Leeds is the Corn
Exchange. This stunning Grade I listed Victorian building is home to over 20 food, fashion and
lifestyle indies, and they’re all fabulous!

There’s Northern Acoustics for the budding guitarist and Released Records for the vinyl enthusiast;
The Archives, Hidden Wardrobe and Fabrikk for fashion lovers, and Dion Smith Jewellery for
something fancy and expensive!

But that’s not all! This incredible circular building is also home to The Plant Pot where you can buy
your mum a terrarium or bonsai, and On the Wall – home to some of the coolest custom art prints in
the city.

It’s no exaggeration to suggest that you could do all of your indie Christmas shopping under one
gorgeous period roof!

Colours May Vary – Munro House, Duke Street, Leeds, LS9 8AG

Right on the edge of town but only a short walk from Leeds Corn Exchange, is Colours May Vary – an
independent gift shop with a difference. Instead of the usual cheap throwaway plastic and stocking
fillers you find in many gift shops, this store’s focus is graphic design, typography and art. They sell
original pieces from local artists, gifts, cards, book, magazines and journals, as well as making great
use of their event space to showcase local artists with exhibitions and workshops.

The owners are lovely people who try to bring items to Leeds that you won’t find anywhere else, so
if you’re looking for a wow factor gift it’s definitely worth checking them out.

Blue Rinse – 9-11 Call Lane, Leeds, LS1 7DH

If you’re buying for the fashion and environmentally conscious person you could do a lot worse than
taking a trip to Blue Rinse on Call Lane. It’s by far the biggest vintage clothes shop in the city and
focuses on late 80s to 90s items, of which there are thousands!

The prices are pretty good and the customer service is great, so head down and browse away. But be
warned – you’ll lose hours of your life wallowing in nostalgia!

These are just a few of the great indies in the city, so take an entire day to explore properly. Drop
your car with us at Trafalgar Street Car Park and get ready for some awesome Christmas shopping in
Leeds city centre!
