Sensational sushi in a choice of Japanese restaurants

Like any vibrant and modern city, Leeds is host to a plethora of eateries serving delicious and authentic food from all four corners of the world.  One of the most popular cuisines in the UK, Japanese, is well catered for in the city centre. This week we’ll take a look at five of the finest Japanese restaurants in Leeds ─ all capable of tantalising your taste buds!

Yo! Sushi – 419 Trinity Leeds, Albion Street, LS1 5AY

As authentic as it comes, Yo! Sushi feels like you’ve stepped into a sushi bar in Tokyo. From the iconic conveyor belt, where you pick whatever takes your fancy from the menu as it slides past, to the privacy of the comfortable and modern booths, everyone’s catered for here. The staff are helpful and friendly and will happily show you how the conveyor works, so you don’t feel the need to chase after the one that got away!

Teppanyaki – Belgrave Hall, Belgrave St, LS2 8DD

If it’s drama and atmosphere you want with your meal, then Teppanyaki’s the place for you. The buzz is palpable as you enter the restaurant, which is testament to the welcoming staff and the fact that tables have their own hotplate so you can see your food being cooked right in front of you. It’s a real theatre of food, but the experience will only take you so far ─ the food has to be excellent too. Don’t worry though, Teppanyaki’s one of the very best Japanese restaurants you’ll find in the city and you won’t be disappointed.

Little Tokyo – 24 Central Rd, Leeds LS1 6DE

As soon as you step through the door of Little Tokyo you can see why they named it so! Decorated traditionally (with just the right amount of kitsch), with diners sat on the floor on cushions or small benches, Little Tokyo has a varied menu catering very well for all palates. Their vegetarian and vegan range is excellent and we thoroughly recommend the bento boxes ─ a great introduction if you’re new to Japanese food.

Fuji Hero – 45 Wade Ln, LS2 8NJ

If it’s simple, plentiful food you’re looking for then Fuji Hiro never fails to disappoint. Although it’s more a noodle bar than restaurant, don’t let that put you off. A small family run business that you’d probably miss if you didn’t know it was there, Fuji Hero serves authentic Japanese food with excellent consistency. No nonsense, quality food.

Sushiwaka – 28 New Briggate, LS1 6NU

Excellent customer service, delicious sushi and audience participation’s what you get at Sushiwaka! Serving the finest and freshest sushi in Leeds, everyone feels comfortable and at home here. The staff are never too busy to stop and help you understand the protocol, helping to make your experience a memorable one.

Each of these fabulous restaurants cater well for both the Japanese connoisseur and the newcomer. Why not drop your car off with us at Trafalgar Street car park where we’ll take extra special care of it while you have a fabulous evening – we’re just a short walk into the city centre, and the stroll back will help all of that sushi settle!
