Citroen Berlingo
The Berlingo is a real contender for best small van of 2019, and we’re a big fan of it. Essentially, it’s the
same van as the Vauxhall Combo and Peugeot Partner, but we think it’s the best of the three. We love
how easy it is to load because of its low floor, and the intelligent layout means that you can fit two
pallets in without a struggle. It’s not as nice to drive at the Connect, but the diesel engines are smooth
and refined.
Mercedes-Benz Citan
Mercedes has a fine reputation for building excellent large vans, but the Citan was their first venture
into the small van market. Based on the Renault Kangoo, the Citan takes the refinement up another
notch and feels worthy of the name – it’s definitely more than a rebadged Renault! It’s well-balanced,
beautifully built and gives the impression that it’ll serve your small business well for years.
Volkswagen Caddy
Common wisdom suggests that a diesel engined van is best for business because of the pulling power
and fuel economy, but we love the 1.4 TSI petrol version of the caddy. It’s smooth, built like a tank and
offers a surprising amount of torque – all of which makes it a great alternative for the business owner
who tends to do short trips around town.
It’s tough to decide which of these is the best of the bunch, so we recommend heading down to your
local dealers and trying them all out because they all offer different qualities. Finding the perfect van for
