The Key Club – 66 Merrion Street, Leeds, LS2 8LW
Our favourite alternative club nights in Leeds are at The Key Club… and with good reason! The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming, the drinks are priced sensibly for the student market, and the music is excellent. If you’re a rock or metal fan The Key Club has to be your first port of call for a great Friday or Saturday night out, with regular club nights Fuel (Friday night) and The Garage (Saturday night) attracting large followings. They also have a ‘guilty pleasures’ room for the more cheesy among you!
Wire – 2-8 Call Lane, Leeds, LS1 6DN
Wire is one of the longest established underground clubs in Leeds and has been host to popular alternative night, Fuzzy Logic, for 17 years. If it’s a night of indie floor fillers and classics you’re after then head on down to Wire on a Thursday night! The basement club may be small, but it’s never cramped and the atmosphere is friendly and fun.
The HiFi Club – 2 Central Road, Leeds, LS1 6DE
Featuring a series of regular club nights, The HiFi Club has won “Best club in Leeds” awards numerous times. There’s something for almost everyone, with funk & soul, hip-hop, afro-beats and so much more covered during the ever popular residency nights throughout the week.
The Stone Roses Bar – 9 Lower Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6ER
If you’re looking for a sweaty night of great indie classics, then The Stone Roses Bar is perfect for you! It’s a small venue and very popular, so expect it to be rammed with happy faces bouncing up and down on the dancefloor until the sun comes up. They also have a dedicated Stone Roses hour because with a name like The Stone Roses Bar, they’d be crazy not to!
