Shopping in Leeds – Our Favourites

Shopping in Leeds – hidden gems

We’ve long championed shopping in Leeds as a fantastic way to spend a day, and this week we’re going to share some of our favourite hidden gems that you might have missed.

Here’s a selection of the quirky, interesting, independent stores that we think make Leeds the best city centre in the North.

Blue Rinse – 9-11 Call Ln, Leeds LS1 7DH

As well as having a great name, Blue Rinse is definitely our favourite vintage clothes shop in Leeds. Located in Call Lane, it’s often missed by the casual shopper, but we thoroughly recommend it if you’re into your 80s and 90s vintage fashion. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic without being pushy, and there are some really great classic items for sale at reasonable prices.

Our Handmade Collective – Vicar Ln, Leeds LS1 6PG

The Grand Arcade is always worth a visit when you’re shopping in Leeds, but make sure that you pop into Our Handmade Collective next time you’re there! This quirky little gift shop is like a genuine Aladdin’s Cave of delights… and they’re all handmade by local crafters. As well as offering loads of brilliantly unique gifts, they also run friendly crafting classes where you can combine brushing up on your craft skills with a cuppa and a chat – the perfect way to relax and unwind!

Yellow Sunrise – Leeds Corn Exchange, Call Ln, Leeds LS1 7BR

Leeds Corn Exchange is full of lovely little independent shops, and one of our favourites is Yellow Sunrise. We warn you though, be prepared to lose an hour or two when you visit because it’s full of wonderful ethically-sourced and eco-friendly boutique gifts for the whole family. We particularly love their kilim rugs and extensive range of stunning lamps, and we’re sure that you’ll agree! As with all of the independent stores in Leeds, the staff at Yellow Sunrise are incredibly welcoming, friendly and have great enthusiasm and knowledge about their stock, so don’t be afraid to ask for advice.

Leeds really is blessed with a great range of independent stores, and although we’ve highlighted these three as some of our favourites, we’d love to hear about yours. Shopping in Leeds is a brilliant experience because it has everything from high-end designer boutiques to fantastic charity shops, so what are you waiting for?
